Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Identify factors that may compromise interpreter effectiveness, and make adjustments where possible.

Negotiate mutual agreement on roles, purpose and process of interaction appropriate to situation and participants. 
Analyse interaction setting and attributes and communication preferences of participants. 
Select appropriate communication styles effective in complex settings, including appropriate interpreting mode. 
Adapt strategies to the requirements of equipment and technology where appropriate. 
Identify and address problems in message transfer and factors affecting communication flow promptly and according to established techniques. 
Identify and address communication challenges arising from cross-cultural differences and participant relationships and attributes. 
Seek assistance where required to manage breakdown in interaction and restore communication. 
Seek and analyse feedback on interactional management and evaluate effectiveness of performance. 
Determine personal impact of assignment and identify need for debriefing or counselling. 
Take advice on issues and solutions and consider and implement strategies to improve process and outcomes of future assignments.
